At the recent Christmas Party for Syrians new to Canada hosted by the FCJ Centre, NewScoop YYC photographer Barb Briggs was moving , camera in hand, through the throng of children and adults happily chatting after the arrival of Santa Claus. She heard one child exclaiming excitedly and with much animation in Arabic.

The translation was that, “Santa Speaks Arabic! Santa speaks Arabic!”. The Miracle on 34th Street comes to Calgary!

Check out the You Tube video of the original multilingual Santa in a similar situation with a young Dutch refugee after the Second Word War.  And check out these 2016 images of the children who enjoyed a Santa who speaks Arabic.
