Many of us hold in high esteem the work and thought leadership of Jean Vanier, a Companion of the Order of Canada, Templeton Prize winner, and founder of L’Arche.
L’Arche wants to “help build a world where everyone belongs”. In L’Arche, people who have intellectual disabilities and those who come to assist share life and daytime activities together in family-like settings that are integrated into local neighbourhoods. L’Arche in Canada has nearly 200 homes and workshops or day programs. These are grouped into what L’Arche calls ”communities.” (From website)
In his touching and uplifting message for Canada’s 150th anniversary, Jean Vanier underlines the importance, dignity, and inherent value of all Canadians, regardless of their faith. NewScoop is pleased to share this message which was produced and developed by our friends at Faith in Canada 150 in cooperation with L’Arche and Christian Horizons.
